Computational fluid dynamics simulation of rough bed open channels using openFOAM

چکیده

With increased flood risk due to climate change, population expansion and urbanisation; robust waterway design management are critical. One common type of used gather transport ground water is the open channel. Most simulations do not account for physical roughness bed, instead using a coefficient. This means that only turbulent energy content can be modelled whilst eddies vortices cannot. Furthermore, many past studies assume free surface rigid lid. could affect way structures near behave. Computational Fluid Dynamics simulation an channel with rough bed lid conducted OpenFOAM. Results show good correlation experimental tests. It visually observed generated from interact thus perhaps great approximation. supported by apparent decrease in Reynolds shear stress 30% flow depth immediately beneath.
